Oral Exams & New Patient Exams in Nanaimo, BC
Oral examinations help ensure you can continue to smile with confidence. Our dentists can examine and diagnose problems early and make recommendations for further action. We recommend that you schedule an oral exam once a year for optimal oral health. Whether you are brand new to Woodgrove Dental Clinic or are a long-term patient, we look forward to seeing you during your next visit.
Oral Exams
Your annual oral exam offers an opportunity for our dentists to examine your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Our dentists can monitor any problem areas, provide suggestions for treatment, and give you the feedback you can implement at home. Your annual visit is also your chance to ask questions and advice of our dentist. Your exam will likely include x-rays, an oral cancer screening, and an assessment of any existing restorations, such as crowns or fillings.
New Patients Welcome
We welcome new patients of all ages at Woodgrove Dental Clinic. For your first visit to our office, we request that you arrive about 10-15 minutes early to fill out new patient forms and any applicable insurance forms. We look forward to meeting you and tending to your family’s dental care needs!

Dental Hygiene Appointments in Nanaimo, BC
Maintaining proper oral hygiene is a vital component of healthy teeth at any age. Regular oral checkups and dental hygiene appointments can help keep your mouth feeling clean and fresh. You can also take action at home to prevent cavities and gum disease by brushing and flossing daily between dental visits, and following any other recommended actions from our dentists and dental hygienists.
What to Expect During a Dental Hygiene Appointment
Our dental hygienists are careful to gently clean and polish your teeth and giving you that whole-mouth, dentist-clean feeling. Professional cleaning helps remove tartar from your teeth, reducing the risk of cavities forming and gum disease developing. Depending on your specific dental needs, we may provide flossing, scaling, polishing, fluoride, and a range of other preventative care measures during a dental hygiene appointment. As always, we strive to make the experience as relaxing and pain-free as possible.
At-Home Oral Care
Our dentists recommend professional dental hygiene appointments 1-2 times a year for optimal oral health. In between visits, you can help keep your mouth healthy by brushing twice a day to remove food debris and plaque. We also recommend flossing daily to remove stubborn plaque and help prevent gum inflammation. Remember, every action you take today will help keep your mouth healthy in the future!
